THE WAITING ROOM BY NIKKA GRACE (2018)

I’m sitting in a waiting room

Waiting for the psych

I wish this thing was easier

Than learning to ride a bike

I’m sitting in a waiting room

Flowers and magazines displayed

A fan, a lamp, a water tank

Wondering what to say

I’m sitting in a waiting room

The staff are all talking around

Everyone seems to have found their feet

But I’m still battling to touch the ground

I’m sitting in a waiting room

Trying to keep myself composed

How am I to open up when all

The words are locked down below

I’m sitting in a waiting room

It’s almost time to go

Inside and tell my story to

Someone I hardly know

I’m sitting in a waiting room

Heart beating, feet tapping the floor

Lost, confused, overwhelmed, I feel

Anxiously awaiting to walk through that door

I’m sitting in a waiting room

The room is quiet now

Staff tapping away, generator on,

My mind alert, heart beating loud

I’m sitting in a waiting room

I no longer know what to say

All I know, is my story will be told

My history, will come alive today
